halo-halo tab

Play something in a tab, then click the halo-halo tab button in your Chrome toolbar while that tab is in front. That is the only way to add a tab — Chrome only lets an extension capture audio from a tab you have explicitly invoked it on.

Cast

The mix comes out of this tab, so casting this tab sends both the sound and the video grid. The captured tabs keep playing in the background — you do not cast them, and you should not.

  1. Press set up for casting.
  2. Open Chrome's menu and choose Cast, save and share → Cast.
  3. Pick your device, then set Sources to Cast tab.

Untested against real hardware. An extension cannot start a cast or see whether a device is there, so nothing here can check itself — if the menu does not behave as described, that is worth reporting.
